Dear Lowlanders,

I received this question last Friday, and I wonder if anyone from this list
can help. This man is looking for a North Frisian translation of the phrase
'I
come from {city}'

Jeg er ved at redigere en bog til gymnasiet om Nordisk Sproghistorie (for
Nordisk Ministerråd) - og i den forbindelse omtales ganske kort, at der er i
grænselandet findes (mindst) tre indbyrdes uforståelige dialekter:
sønderjysk,
plattysk og nordfrisisk. Det er her tanken at illustrere forholdet med tre
personer der udtaler: \"jeg kommer fra xxx\" på hver deres dialekt (- og
desuden to personer der taler hhv. rigsdansk og højtysk).
Kunne I hjælpe mig med en nordfrisisk version? Dvs. fortælle mig hvordan:
\"Jeg
kommer fra Husum\" - (eller anden relevant by) - lyder på nordfrisisk?

But how can we tell him the news that those three language varieties he
mentioned are not dialects but actual languages, different from Danish and
German?
