More interesting material on "wrochten" from

the case that the back formations are occurring in both high and low
registers with slightly different
meanings.

Meer nog hebben Bosboom-Toussaint en Alberdingk Thijm dat archaisme
gecultiveerd in hun romans en novellen. De eerste gebruikt bijv. achterdeel,
handdweil, vreugd hanteeren, argheid, jonste, joeste, aalweerdig,
wederwaardigheid
(tegenspoed), ietwes, leyder. Dat zij wel eens mistastte is niet te
verwonderen
bij een schrijfster die van de oudere taal geen speciale studie gemaakt had.
Zij gebruikt bijv. een infinitief wrochten, een participium darrende
(durvende) en wijdlustig in plaats van wijdluftig. Zij gebruikt germanismen,
blijkbaar in de mening dat die ook zeventiende-eeuws Nederlands waren, bijv.
linderen (verzachten), overrassen (verrassen), de tijd overbrengen, de
plannen waren
feilgeslagen, enz., maar daaronder kunnen ook overgenomen Duitse woorden
zijn, uit herinnering aan haar lektuur.
