In English at least "Pelasgian" generally refers to the pre-Greek
inhabitants of Greece and Anatolia. The surviving loan-words and place names
that made their way into Classical Greek indicate the language(s) was/were
non-Indo-European (thus excluding Hittite and related Anatolian languages).

Thanks a lot for the clarification, Troy.

I suppose this is why the author "so-called" (expressing disagreement)
before "Pelasgian," assumedly because the name had come to be used for an
Italic group.
