On another scene: is there any remaining traces of the Palatine German of
the setlters in Limerick and Kilkenny? Words, phrases etc.<

The only trace I have suspected is the story Ashpittel found in Northern
Ireland, where some of the settlers also went. I cannot understand how
Aschenputtel could translate itself to Northen Ireland without their German
help.
The story can be found in Katherine Briggs' Sampler of British Folklore

My 3 gt grandmother was Ann Switzer (Newcastle West) and we have been able
to trace her back through 4 generations to Michael Switzer whose family
emigrated from the Pflaz - originally from Assenheim!!

Heather
