Dankie, Mark.  Vra maal die "botanie-boffin."

Hoe heet "moepel" in die Zoeloe- en Xhosa-tale?  Wie weet dit?

Dis natuurlik ook moontlik dat Tswana _m+mupudu_ van Afrikaans "moepel"
afgekom is.  Maar ik kan geen Nederlandse, Laagsassiese of Duitse woorde
vind die met "moepel" verwant kan wees nie, hoewel die woord 'n bietjie
Germaans klink.
