Subject: LL-L "Animals"

Dear Lowlanders,

a nice and interesting thing I could watch today.

With my dog (German Wirehaired, a she, 11 years) I was on the farm of a
friend, some villages away from my home. There was nobody at home, but I
could do my work without anyone being present there.

A kind of private postman (without any uniform, in a very private car) came
to bring a small parcel, and I did have to give a receipt acting for the
addressees.
With some amazement I saw my dog looking expectantly to the postman, if he
had some little snack for him as our own postman, coming to our house,
always has.
I asked the man if he had any of that stuff within his car, but he denied.

Why did this tricky animal recognize him to be a postman??? I know her to be
very intelligent- but this time there must have been going on any weird
thing, any communication and signs (and this could be seen as kind of
connection back to linguism...;-)) I do not understand but jealously have to
adore.
