Surely Classical Latin does not have definite articles? The fossilised 
articles that became gender markers do not count, because they are no longer 
articles, nor does the use of "ille" "illa" etc. in Vulgar Latin, because 
Vulgar Latin is not Classical Latin. Am I missing something here?
