From: Mark Williamson <node.ue at gmail.com>
Subject: Lowlands creoles

Hi all... I'm trying to collect samples of all Lowlands-based creoles,
pidgins, and other contact varieties (immigrant koines such as some
varieties of Platt spoken in immigrant communities, renativised
varieties such as Afrikaans, mixed languages, jargons, creoloids,
etc.) if anyone has any. (samples of other non-lowlands-based pidgins,
creoles, etc. would also be welcome, but I'm afraid they fall outside
the scope of this list)

Any samples are appreciated, but I've found it particularly difficult
to find samples of Dutch creoles (Skepi CD, Berbice CD, Negerhollands
CD) and Unserdeutsch (New Guinea CG).

Also, interestingly, I've read places that Skepi Creole Dutch, Berbice
Creole Dutch, and Negerhollands Creole Dutch (the first two in Guyana,
the latter in the Virgin Islands; all extinct except Berbice) are
actually Zeeuws-based creoles rather than Dutch-based. I was wondering
if anybody could substantiate or discount this claim.

Also, it would be nice to collect online resources on Lowlands-based
creoles, such as SIL Suriname's Saramaccan, Sranang, and Aukan online
dictionaries.

Folks,

Having been experiencing similar problems, I second our Mark's request
(above) and want to add to his wish list Afrikaans-based pidgins and creoles
(Oorlams, Tsotsitaal), also, outside the Lowlands, Russenorsk.

It is difficult to find samples of these.

Regards,
Reinhard/Ron
