Leve Leeglanders,

In Kreis Rendsborg kinnt wi ok "dat Fell versuupen" wenn een dood bleeven, 
voer woelk luet magh dat vlich een beten pinli ween doch ik weet dat in 
verscheedene Asiatische landen een begraafnis keen trurige, stille saak is 
man een fest wo eten un drunken ward. Vlich suend wi voendaags doch all to 
negatief oever den doot, ons gesellschap is doch veel to "obsessed" met de 
idee alltied jung to blieven; old warrn, wisheet kreegen un freeden finnen 
ward weniger un weniger as een bestreevung anseen, ons ward juemmers de 
ewige "jugend" as ideal voermaak. Sodenni pass Fell-versuupen ni meer in de 
tied denn de doot is dat waa wi all voer bang ween moet un man woell nix 
daroever hoern oder weeten. Ik woell nu ni seggen dat man drinken mutt bet 
man een haarbuedel haett awer de idee dee dar aster steit is egentli ni so 
verkeert.

Dear Lowlanders,

We also have the tradition of  "fell versuupen" (drink somebodies skin off) 
in the district of Rendsborg and for some this might be an ambarassing idea 
but I know that quite a few Asian countries have similar traditions where a 
funeral is rather a feast to eat and drink. Perhaps we are currently by far 
too obsessed with the idea of eternal youth; to become old, gain wisdom and 
peace of mind is no more accepted as an aim to go for, therefore does "dat 
fell versuupen" no longer fit to our conception, death is something we have 
to be afraid of and something we don't speak about any longer. I don't want 
to suggest to drink a lot of alcohol but the idea behind it is perhaps not 
so bad after all.
