I think that the word you are looking for may be "Kerf", in accordance with
High German "Kerbtier".

Leyve Klaus-Werner,

de oule dytsche Nomen foyr _Insekt_ is 'Kerbtier', wat 't sylvig meent
('insecatum'= 'tailliert, eingekerbt') as dat Latiin'sche.

Man- ouk dyt Wourd schall woll 'n Artefactum foyr dysse Deer-Familie ween;
van eyn oulen, zoolog'schen Mönk uutklamyseert.

Man- ick weyt ouk ne recht, wat 'n opp Neddersassisch 'Karvdeer' seggen
schull; mi dycht, wat dat nyms begriepen deyt.

Anner' Wöör' synd: 'Brummer' föör 'n grouten 'Fleyger', 'Bottervagel' för de
"Flatterbies", 'Krabbeldeyr' no Wyllem Busch, 'Miegelreynen' föör Ameisen
etc..

De oul'n Neddersassen hannen noch keyn Wourd foyr dennen heylen Kroom.

Greutens

Johannes "Jonny" Meibohm
