Folks,

Though I am not known as a friend of hunting, I feel obligated to pass on
this bit of news about a Low Saxon (Low German) documentary on hunting in
Schmalstede, Schleswig-Holstein, Germany. The hunters speak Low Saxon, and
the filmmakers decided to extend this to the entire production. It has now
become an award-winning documentary, all in the old language. Good going!

Plattdeutscher Dokumentarfilm ausgezeichnet

Erich Amende aus Kiel ist Jäger, aber auch Videofilmer. Stundenlang harrt er
auf Hochsitzen aus, um Wildtiere vor die Kamera zu bekommen.

Das Filmen ist seine Leidenschaft, und so ist auch der Dokumentarfilm
"Drievjagd in Schmalstede" ein Zeugnis seines engagierten Hobbies.

Eine Treibjagd als gesellschaftliches Ereignis im ländlichen Raum - das ist
Thema dieses Dokumentarfilms. Natürlich schnacken die Treiber und Jäger in
Schmalstede (das liegt bei Bordesholm in Schleswig-Holstein) plattdüütsch.
Und so hat der Autor in seinem Film nicht nur den Originalton eingefangen,
sondern auch den Off-Text plattdeutsch gestaltet.

Herausgekommen ist ein sehenswert unterhaltsames Filmdokument von 23 min.
Länge.

Im Rahmen der Fachmesse "Wild & Hund" in Dortmund wurde "Drievjagd in
Schmalstede" ausgezeichnet: Die Arbeitsgemeinschaft Film- und
Videowettbewerb und der Landesjagdverband Nordrhein-Westfalen sprachen dem
Film einen Sonderpreis zu.

Die NDR 1-Welle Nord und das Schleswig-Holstein-Magazin des NDR-Fernsehens
widmeten dem plattdeutschen Dokumentarfilm und seinem Autor bereits lobende
Beiträge.
