Haai daar!

Ron, *dissel kom nie sonder die komponent 'boom' voor nie.
Die enigste 'dissel' hier is eintlik 'distel ' en dit is 'n boomtipe,
ek dink 'n doringboom.

Ek sien dat die enkele 'Diestel' ook so in Plautdietsch voorkom.

Nee, ek glo as dit 'klopdisselboom gaan' dan trek 'n enkel perd
'n klein karretjie wat dan vinniger kan draf! In Afrikaans het dit nie
met die ongetroude/enkel status te doen nie.

Dankie, Elsie.

In Nedersassies/Nederduits is _dystel_, _dyssel_ of _dysel_ (<Diestel> ~
<Diessel> ~ <Diesel>) wat in Nederlands _distel_ en Engels _thistle_
(_Carbenia_, _Carduus_, _Onopordon_, _Carlina_, _Centaurea_ ens.), inkl.
_Onopordon acanthium_, die nasionaalplant van Skotland. Ek glo in Suid
Afrika het jullie hierdie naam vir 'n Euraasiese plant aan 'n soort
Afrikaans doringboom gegê.

Oud-Engels _þistil_, Oud-Sassies _thîstil_.

_Dissel_ [I] is verwant met Duits _Deichsel_, en _dystel_, _dyssel_ of
_dysel_ [i:] met Duits _Distel_.
