Subject: LL-L "Etymology"

my son (11) today asked me for the relations between E: 'kitchen' and G:
'Kittchen', meaning E: 'jail'.

DUDEN supposes it to derive inter alia from Middel Low Saxon 'kuete',
meaning G: 'Höhle', E: 'cave' or from G: 'Kate, Kote', E: 'small house,
cottage'.

Latin _cucina_ 'kitchen' ([ku"kina] > [ku"k'ina] > [ku"tSina])

That being the case, has the Franconian (I think) name 'Kitchenbrand' a
common root?
