You mean, seven consonants in a row, and then two vowels? Otherwise I don't
think it would qualify... there are plenty of words with few vowels, like
German "(des) Schranks" (one vowel, seven consonants).

I think we had a consonant thread before, I seem to remember coming up with
the word "Hirschschnitzel" - 8 consonants in a row.

So, what's yours?

What about "zeeëendeëieren", Dutch for "sea duck's eggs" (plural
of "zeeëendeëi"), prono ["ze.i'e.ind@'Ei at r@]

"in the end", Mr. Hellinckx might be of 'pre-sanskritian' origin ;-)?

Ron, obviously he was talking about his last name, which appears at "the
end" of his message.

By the way, English _strengths_ has eight (orthographic) consonants and one
vowel.

Oy vey! Thanks, Jonny and Kevin! Am I slow on the uptake, or what? It
must have something to do with me not yet being used to the new Euro cent,
making for a particularly slow drop of the penny. I was looking for two
vowels at the end of a word with seven consonants ...

Anyway, that Luc of ours sure is a crafty devil (and, aha!, that might be an
etymological hint regarding his last name). You'd better wipe that grin off
your face, Mnnneerrr Hellllinnckkxx with your name spelled in a
pre-Vedic-Sanskrit way, for we'll get you and get you good one of these
days.

I've noticed that the old Flemings and those of their ilk loved their "x",
particularly after "ck". I guess they wanted to make sure everyone got the
/ks/ sound right. Weird thingx, them Vlaminckx!

Thanckx!
Reinhard/Ron
