Actually it was supposed to have been taken to Jerusalem by  party of Scottish
Knights led by Douglas and also including William St Claire.
En-route there via Spain the party joined local Christian knights in an attack on
the Moors, just a skirmish in fact but the Scots were surrounded by
Moorish knights, Douglas is alleged to have thrown the casket containing the
heart into the Moslem throng and charged in after it to be killed along with all
his retinue save one who was ill in a local castle. The casket was recovered by
the Spaniards and eventually returned to Scotland probably by the surviving
member of the party.
