Subject: Administrativia

Dear Lowlanders,

This coming weekend (Saturday, Sunday and all or most of Monday) I will be
traveling and expect to be without Internet access. So far, others are going to
be in similar positions. (Well, it's summertime.) So there is a good chance of
a brief hiatus. Thanks for understanding.

Please do visit the anniversary pages (http://www.lowlands-l.net/anniversary/)
and consider adding to it. Please send anything to me, also write to me if you
have pertinent questions or suggestions.

Bear in mind that lots of people all over the world access these pages everyday
and may be taking away some knowledge about the Lowlands and about language in
general. By the way, the added indices in Dutch, German, Spanish, Portuguese,
French, Russian, Indonesian/Malay and Chinese seem to be as useful as I expected
them to be. We are now getting far more hits from Africa, Latin America,
Indonesia, China and the area of the former Soviet Union. I expect that most of
these visitors have some English reading proficiency but appreciate the greater
ease of navigating the site from indices in languages with which they are more
familiar.

Needless to say that pages with sound files enjoy top popularity, especially
those showcasing lesser-known language varieties. It is a shame, though, that we
don't have sound files for some better-known languages like Spanish, French,
Italian, Polish, Czech, Slovak, Russian, Finnish, Estonian and Japanese. Weird!
 What's up with that?

Regards,
Reinhard/Ron
