It's all very simple mathematics.
Our company policy:
Our technical standard is:
95 % of customers will have no problems.
Our investment is still reasonably low
(if we made it 99 % our investment would go up twenty-fold)
Net profit $1.-
Resolving the PB of the 5 %
would cost us 50 ¢.
Ignoring them will cost us 5 ¢ through losing those customers.
Conclusion: put up a low-cost fake help desk to maximize profit.
Be ready to fend off law suits.
Task for Jim's team, before Saturday:
A cost-benefit study to determine at which customer satisfaction level our
profits will be maximized.
***
Customer beware: It will get worse.
Take out good legal insurance to get after those buggers.
Mike Wintzer
