Dear Sandy:

Seconded & reseconded, & not just this subject but all the other points you
made.

Mind you, many 'cultures' are the product of the constraints of a
restrictive environment. If these constraints are removed, the resulting
enrichment of the lives of its subjects may lead to the rapid and voluntary
extinction of an otherwise rich & worthy endowment. This is a tragic
counterpoint to the meeting of colonial & indigenous cultures as well. And
similar stupid things have been said, and even legislated, against 'natives'
as against the deaf or the blind, or other disabled in the community. Oh,
well.

Peace to her, & all the great Aiken clan of writers; she may be an expert
collector of Scots fairy tales, but nothing else in that tongue. We aren't
all polymaths, but sometimes rich insights may be brought from an outsider's
perspective..

Noo, quit burlin!

Yrs,
Mark
