Re newspaper headlines: There does seem to be some conflicting forces in 
writing newspaper headlines, primarily you would want to attract 
attention to the publication, so you would want something short and 
preferably witty or memorable, but it has to be long enough to have 
meaning. I think the value of ambiguity is that the brain has to do a 
double take to sort out the ambiguities and then you have to read a 
little bit of the leader to the story to work out what the story is 
actually about. The longer you hold the potential customer's attention, 
the better. A well known example concerns the British politician Michael 
Foot: "FOOT HEADS ARMS BODY", very much like one of Gabriele's examples.
