From: Tom Carty <cartyweb at hotmail.com>
Subject: LL-L "Placenames: Inverary - Inverteeth"

A recent email on the subject of Hamburg brought up a memory of being in
Scotland last year, in a place called Inverary.

Its real name is Inverteeth, but some mix up between an Ordinance Survey man
and visiting Glaswegians got confused where one - speaking in Lallans - said
Inver 'are 'ee, meaning 'river is here', only for the Ordinance Survey guy
to write it down as the place name.

Im a little shakey on the story, so if anyone can fill me in Id be grateful.
