Changing the subject here, this reminds me of something I was wondering
about lately: what does it mean when someone is titled "the Great"?
There aren't many of them, are there? Alexander, Catherine, Peter, Herod...?

Not to forget Karl (Carolus Magus > Charlmagne, German _Karl der Große_ "Charles
the Great") who "integrated" the Saxons.

Perhaps ruthlessness is what "great" stands for in most cases. Or something has
been omitted: "the great ..."

There are lots more: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Great

The latest addition: Saparmyrat Ataýewiç Nyýazow (Saparmyrat Atayevich Nyyezov
[TApA:rm1rA:t AtAyevItS n1:jA:DQv]), current president of Turkmenistan,
self-styled _Türkmenbaşy_ ("(All) Turkmen Head/Leader", aux Atatürk of Turkey),
referred to has _Beyik Serdar Saparmurat Türkmenbaşy_ ("Serdar Saparmurat
Türkmenbaşy the Great") in the surviving Turkmen media.

His presidential decrees:
