Subject: LL-L "Sports"

Hello everyone,

A question arose in my mind on Sunday after watching the World Cup final. When
two players "trash talk" each other in these international competitions (or in
professional leagues), what language(s) do they do it in? Is there some kind of
football lingua franca they use? For that matter, many professional teams are
made up of players and coaches from many different countries. Do they use the
"home" language during practice and team meetings? For example, does everyone on
the Real Madrid team learn Spanish, or do they "get by" in some other language?

Thanks,

Mark Brooks
