Children could actually share families as they probably did in old village 
life.
Two year ago I had the wonderful experience of visiting two surrogate 
'sisters' of my Edinburgh childhood in Ontario.
We were all much older but the bonds of juvenile love persisted.
Sorry to read 'used to' this was a very precious treasure.
