Well, my American husband regretted he had asked about the birds in front of
our kitchen window, and I had to inform him that they were actually Great
Tits. This has become a running joke in our family. No wonder the Americans
prefer to call related birds chickadees...

A Dutch friend of mine who lives in Germany feels very amused whenever he
hears the word "Apeetit" (appetite); he claims that this word doesn't exist
in Dutch and sounds like "apen-tit" (monkey, er, gland)to him.

Gabriele Kahn

P.S: I, too, have heard Tittie for Laetitia.
