Subject: [LLL] Use of mother to mean woman or lady

Hello there, Lowlanders. I have heard that in several cultures, they have
two words for "mother". One is the female parent, the other being used for
the American English equivalent for "lady". In Turkish, the female parent is
"anê", and the lady is "âna". Does anything like this exist in the Lowlands?
A friend of mine said that he saw this usage in a book, but he couldn't find
the name of the book. He said, however, that it was an older usage.
