Hmmm, Very interesting! Mathias zegt dat de Saxen elkaar de rechterhand als
groet geven, omdat je dan kunt zien dat er geen mes in die hand zit.
Aan de andere kant zijn er hele culturen, bijvoorbeeld in India, die alleen
maar met hun rechterhand mogen eten omdat zij hun linkerhand gebruiken om
"het WC papier vast te houden". Jacqueline

Beste Jacqueline,

Niet alleen in Indië. Dit is de gewoonte in bijna alle culturen waar men met de
hand eet ... en in de meeste ervan word geen papier gebruikt, tenminste niet
oorspronkelijk.  ;-)

Toen ik klein was herinnerden de volwassenen mij altijd dat ik de "goede hand"
("goude hand", "gute Hand") moet geven en met "de goede hand" moet eten. "Goede
hand" en "slechte hand" ... 

"Goed" is rechts (= recht, juist) en "slecht" is links (= verkeerd, onjuist). Dit
is diep in onze culturen geworteld. Misschien in ALLE culturen omdat de
meerderheid van de mensen van natuur rechtshandig is?
