’t Is hiel stille op Lowlands.

Hier in ’t Hoogeveine niet.

Daor regent ’t de blaarn van de bomen.

Vannacht klaagde de wiend bij mij deur de straote.

En ik dacht mitiene an:

 

 De wilde jacht.

Het spoekt op de heide, daorginds in ’t veld. 

Daor heur ie de honden, zij blèekt mit geweld.

Aj luusterd, aj rondkiekt, dan weedie ’t al.

Een troep wilde jagers, mit hoorngeschal.

De peerde, die trappeld, zij gunterd zij snoeft.

De kerels die jaagt, dat ’t klettert en stoeft.

Zij soest deur de wolken, zij ried in galop.

Daor hoog in de wolken, hold gien mèense heur op.

Dat volk giet uut jagen, mit raozend geweld.

Want der is heur een tied van weerkomen ‘esteld.

Zij mut züch wel haosten, want rap giet de tied.

As zij ’t niet in galop doet, dan haalt zij ’t niet.

’t Kraakt in de bomen, wild boest de wiend.

Roeg jaagt de wolken, die toesterig bint.

Aj goed loert, dan zei’j hum, maor laank niet elkien.

Daor is haoste gien starfling, die Wodan kan zien.
