Dear Pat Reynolds

Subject: LL-L etymology/usage [E]

There are many words for which the etymology is unknown (e.g. bonkers,
prat, shaggy dog story),

Who could possibly not know the origin of the shaggy dog story?

Hello Elsie:

Mark, all, the Afrikaans equivalent is 'dier' rather than 'deer'.

Toegestem. Ek het ook nie die regte Engelse spelling vir 'bees' vermeld nie,
nê! Lekker onderwerp die. Kom ons wandel oor die verwantskap van die Engels
'thatch' met Afrikaans 'dak', en gelyke woorde tussenmekaar.

Groete,

Mark.
