Tom McRae wrote about pigeon racing: Never come across it in Australia.

Obviously not a cricket fan, Tom. Bill Lawry, a television commentator on
the game from Melbourne, mentions his birds regularly. The word squab is
fascinating - the only time I hear it is in terms of pigeon pie - it is such
a wonderfully expressive sound.
