Hi all,

Marcel, I don't think a sentence such as "Julle mense moet nie die panne
brand nie" sounds necessarily

unfriendly. I use the same construction all the time in warning or
reprimanding sentences, for example:

-Julle kinders moet nie hier aan die vlakkant induik nie!

-Julle ouens kan gerus 'n bietjie hand bysit!

A little linguistic reinforcement is quite effective to avoid accidents and
prevent a mess.
