Beste Ron, Lowlanners,

the party's going on ;-)!
(BTW: Everyone is invited to add her/his improvements and/or criticism- *'Bi
mi kann jeeder maoken wat he will'* [quoted from R. Feldmanns film "Das muss
kesseln"].)

Category: "Words I Love"

Inuit "*Maktak"*; other spellings *(from the English Wikipedia):*

_Maktaaq_ (Siglitun, Kivalliq, Aivilik , North Baffin, East Baffin, South
Baffin)
_Maktaq_ (Inuinnaqtun, Natsilingmiutut [Inuvialuktun])
_Mattak_ (Labrador, Greenland)
_Mungtuk_ (Siberian Yupik)

English spelling:: 'Muktuk'
German spelling: 'Maktak'

This is the "...word for the traditional Inuit/Eskimo meal of frozen whale
skin and blubber. However, in some dialects, such as Inuinnaqtun, the word
may refer only to the edible parts of the whales." *(Wiki)*
**
I love it because of its onomatopoeic character- you even might hear
people chewing and enjoying.
It had been the very first word (right after "Mom" and "Dad") I tought my
youngest son.

Thanks, Jonny.

I've added it. I hope you don't mind that I changed it to *maqtaq*, because
that seems to be the closest to interdialectical.

There are now initial contributions on a a few pages.

Keep 'em coming, and enjoy!

Reinhard/Ron
