But maybe it can be related to "choke" and would the Dutch word be an
English loan?


As in the "choke" of Hawaiian Creole English? which means "many, lots of"

Da kitchin get choke cockaroaches.

Interesting. Maybe there was a development from "to choke" which was maybe
associated with "a lot", as people choke in food when they eat to much (Or
in the wrong way..)? Or this could be a back formation from "chock full"
which of course brings us back to where we started: where does that come
from?
