*> ... that Caesars' Gallia Belgica actually had two clearly different
cultural regions, al over the period from the IIId century till the Ist
century B.C. ... that the dividing line is virtually coïncident with the
Northern language border, as we are pretty sure it was positioned around the
8th century ...

Did anybody ever hear of the *Nordwestblock language* also called *Belgian*?
I found this by accident:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nordwestblock

One of the famous discoverers is Gysseling:
http://nl.wikipedia.org/wiki/Maurits_Gysseling
http://nl.wikipedia.org/wiki/Belgisch_(taal)<http://nl.wikipedia.org/wiki/Belgisch_%28taal%29>

I knew Gysseling from the *Corpus Gysseling*, a collection of texts in early
Dutch, since I could buy the set at an auction at a bargain price.
http://nl.wikipedia.org/wiki/Corpus_Gysseling
But I dindn't realise he was active in proto-languages.

Regards,
Roger
