Hi Luc,

You wrote: I've heard older people use the word "som-wijlen" (pronounced
"soemaëlen"), meaning "sometimes". "Dik" in "dik-wijls" probably connects
with "thick" (E) indeed.

Getelands has 'dek', sometimes 'dekkes', meaning "often". Middledutch had dicke
wile, dicwile,  from dicke "frequent". Archaic is 'somtewijle', nowadays
almost only 'van tijd'
