Tom,

Yes, “nyuck” as a way of indicating laughter is a case of onomatopoeia. In
particular, it’s the usual way of writing down the way Curly of The Three
Stooges laughed: “Nyuck, nyuck, nyuck!”

There’s also the phrase “yucking it up” meaning “having a good time with a
lot of laughter; telling jokes back and forth.”

And further to this, what did the Germanic people call their temples/holy
places before they borrowed *'kyriakon' ?* Or does this suggest that they
didn't really have dedicated places to worship gods etc?

Irish Christianity was a copticesque Chritianity, and only became Roman
after Pope Adrian. Hence the disputes about Easter, etc.

There was more than one St Patrick, the one we know as St Patrick was
preceded by Palladius and another dude.

Irish contacts with Egypt go back a long long way, the semi-legendery
Milesus queen was Egyptian Scota, as was his sons wife.

Coming back toi the issue of Jews in Europe, it is a growing belief the
seafaring Phonecians were Jewish by language at least, if not by blood.
