Paul wrote:

Scotland had already changed callendars before Union, as Scotland was
Catholic at the time; Protestant England refused as it was thought to be a
Papist AntiChrist plot to make people celebrate Easter on the wrong day,
thus damning their souls.

Scotland had a Reformation Parliament in 1560, which repudiated the pope's
authority, forbade the celebration of the Mass and approved a Protestant
Confession of Faith. The Union of the Crowns was in 1603 and the Union of
Parliaments in 1706/7. The Gregorian Calender was decreed by Pope Gregory
XIII on 24 February 1582 some 20 or so years after the Scottish
Reformation. Great Britain adopted the Gregorian calendar in 1752, After the
Union. I'm no Expert so I may have misunderstood something. Anyway ...

A Guid New Year tae Ane an Aw!
