Subject: LL-L "Etymology"

Beste Jonny,

Your 'et-grao' is called 'toe-maat' in Southern Dutch: toe = zu (G) and maat
= Mahd (G). 'Et' is not a Latin loanword, but indeed cognate with Latin 'et'
(and)..."et" in 'étappe' is different though.
Indo-European root that you can also find in Brabantish "nöreken", chewing
cud, "to ruminate" < edericken (Middle Dutch). Probably exists in Saxon
too...something along the lines of "etrecken" ? What's the Saxon verb for a
cow chewing her cud?

Kind greetings,

Luc Hellinckx, Halle, Belgium
