Subject: LL-L Orbituary


La Esterella (Ester Lambrechts) passed away yesterday, aged almost 92.

La Esterella was the Flemish Zara Leander.

She appeared already on BBC-TV in 1948, 5 years before we had TV in Belgium.

She made her career mainly in the fifties, till her hart was broken when her
husband died in 1959.

She made though a little second career from the mid eightees on, mainly
appearing for an elder public.



Her song "O Lieve-Vrouwe-Toren" (O Tower of Our Lady's Cathedral) became s
good as a town anthem of Antwerp.
