   Subject: LL-L "Etymology"

Hi all,
Welsh gwlan derived from *wlan-, which is I think is derived from a pIE
root *wḷn, the reflex of which in English is 'wool' :)

I also think that gwlan is monosyllabic, like gwlad 'country' (derived from
wlat-, related to Irish flaith 'lord').

Paul Tatum.
