In my opinion, no, it has not. Baie has nothing to do with Dutch. We do use
it sometimes, only as a funny word and everyone in Holland knows what it
means.

The first time I went to the Netherlands I got talking about language,
especially Afrikaans (I lived in SA back then). I commented that Afrikaans
had "baie" rather than "veel", and they said that Dutch people would still
know what I meant. I didn't know about the Malay origin at the time so I
thought it was a Dutch dialect word; has it crept in to Hollands then?

No, Dutch people with no knowledge of Afrikaans would consider "baie" to be
strange and in need of explanation. They might guess the meaning from
context, but no Dutch dialect that I know of has a similar word meaning
"much", "very", "a lot" etc. Colloquial Dutch and dialects have "baaie(n)"
for "to bathe", as has West Frisian (baaie). Baai is also "bay" and the name
of a type of cloth. But these are unrelated etymologically.

Nuver, at ik yn datselde argyf sykje fyn ik neat út april, mar wol fan
earder, en in protte derfan binnen kollums fan de (no spitigernôch
ferstoarne) skriuwer Trinus Riemersma. Net alle "hits" (ik haw der 141, maar
der binne wat dûbelden by) lykje sels ek mar it wurd te befetsjen (dat de
OCR liket net altyd like betrouber). Bannich is yndie in frekwint wurd by
Trinus, mar dit is wat fan syn taal, al kin it algemien mear gebrûklik wêze
om Ferwert hinne.
At je syn kollums derútfilterje soene, en de dûbelden en flaters ek, hâlde
je net safolle oer. Ien of twa kear jiers.
Boppedat is it net te ferlykjen mei de frekwinsje fan "baie" yn it
Afrikaans. It liket ûnwierskynlik dat in wurd dat net safolle sein wurdt sa
djip as heechfrekwint wurd yn in oare taal trochkringe soe.
