related to the Dutch word "doto". I'm Dutch, but have to admit that I don't
know the word "doto", nor have I been able to find it, apart from it being
the name of a certain sea slug (that doesn't occur anywhere in the
lowlands). Personally, I think that's bollocks, but perhaps someone can shed
a light on this?

Henry,

I took it as meaning that Berbice Dutch *doto* comes from Dutch *dood*, and
*dotete* comes from *"dood dat*", i.e. *die is dood* 'that one is dead."

Apparently, the language has a preference for CVCV structure as have the
surrounding languages.

Regards,
Reinhard/Ron
