Beste Luc,

Het West-Vlaams voor "dan" is niet zoals in het Brabants "den", maar: tonne!
Go je gie komm té?
betekent volgens mij: zal je komen, jij?
We kunnen immers ook zeggen: Go je komm, gie?
Go je tonne komm, té? Zal je dan komen, jij?

Vriendelijke groetjes vanuit Oostende

Re: How come vs why vs what for

I grew up saying all three. However, I have the impression that “why” is
the highest register of the three. For example, I would say “how come” or
“what for” in a familiar context. Whereas, in a meeting at my office I’d
more likely use “why.”

Sometimes, I have occasion to train new employees. At the beginning of the
class, I’d probably use “why,” but as time went on and in an effort to show
familiarity, I’d say “how come” or “what for.”

Those three (how come, why, what for) seem to be interchangeable to me.
However, I could see how there is a difference between “how come” and “what
for.” I just can’t think of what it would be right now.
