Kriggst 'n groten Dank, Hanne.

Folks, Hanne is linking us to the site for this year's international garden
show in Wilhelmsburg
<http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wilhelmsburg,_Hamburg>([ˈvɪlhɛlmsˌbʊʁk]
~ [ˈvɪlhɛlmsˌbʊʁç] ~ [ˈvɪlɛmsˌbʊɪ̆ç], Low Saxon
*Willemsborg *[ˈvɪˑlɛˑmsˌbɔɐ̆x]), a part of the German city state of
Hamburg ([ˈhamˌbʊʁk] ~ [ˈhamˌbʊʁç] ~ [ˈhamˌbʊɪ̆ç], Low Saxon *Hamborg
*[ˈhaˑmbɔɐ̆x]),
situated on an island on the revier Elbe.

Wilhelmsburg is were I was born and raised, and at that time it was
anything but a prestigious address. A while ago, our Marlou explained that
it has been going from shabby to chic (i.e. is being "gentrified").

Wilhelmsburg "Trivia":

During the late 19th century and in the early 20th century, many people
from Poland found employment in Wilhelmsburg, especially in the textile
industry.

Wilhelmsburg is where at the end of World War II the Allies carpet-bombed
workers' residential quarters. (My maternal grandfather was a victim of it.
I remember walking past hundreds of Nissen huts in which displaced person
lived for years after WWII).

Wilhelmsburg is where Django Reinhardt and his
Sinti<http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sinti> (French
*manouche*) family's "Gypsy Jazz" began:

There's *so* much more ...! But I'll leave it with this for now.
