 Leve Lüüd,

auf http://www.hamburgbuch.de/nokixel/Frameset/H.htm gibt es ein Lexikon
mit Hamburger Begriffen. Einer der Einträge lautet
"Handeule"

Zum Aufnehmen von mit einem Besen zusammengefegtem hantiert man mit
Handeule und Schaufel (Handfeger und Kehrblech) - früher wurden die
Flügelfedern der Eule dazu benutzt.
das geistert zwar als Erklärung auch an anderen Orten durchs Netzt, klingt
mir aber doch sehr nach Volksetymologie.
Wenn man tatsächlich Vogelfedern zu einem Handfeger verarbeitet hat, dann
hätte es doch näher gelegen, dafür Hühnerfedern zu verwenden.
Auf Platt gibt es das Wort auch als Handuul. In einem alten Wörterbuch von
vor 200 Jahren stand aber nur: Handuul=Handeule, Handfeger.
Habt Ihr dazu eine Erklärung?

Hi Hanne, in fact actors in a dumb show in =Dutch doen aan "mime"
het zijn mime - acteurs, so there seems commun ground for the words
"vermommen"
"aan mime doen"  in the animal world we also know the phenomenon "mimicry"
where a specie is a "look-alike" of another specie (in order to seem
dangerous..
