Dear Lowlanders,

As the Easter <http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Easter> days are approaching
this week and the Jewish days of
Passover<http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Passover>(
*Pesach* פֶּסַח) will begin tonight, I wish happy holidays to whomever
celebrates these.

Regards,

Dick,

Groetjes!

Welllllllll, actually there are a number of New Years' celebrated in
India (and as many more again in Nepal where I currently live)...
depending on the community. 1 Jan is celebrated as the common New
Years by everyone in India (in Nepal 1 Jan IS a holiday, but it is not
the most important New Years); 21 March (plus or minus) is the
"Iranian" New Years tradition, brought here by the Parsis
(Zoroastrians) the largest group of whom live here in Mumbai (smaller
numbers in Gujarat which is where they originally settled after
leaving Persia, and elsewhere throughout the world).... (in Bombay
itself, Marathi New Years is the 2nd most important NY, more important
that Parsi Nuroz... but EVERYONE enjoys, if not the traditions, at
least the day off work that comes from other groups' holidays!)

Nepali New Year (will be the year 2070 according to Bikram sambat)
comes in about a month and a half, so you will be hearing from me
again soon!

cheers!
