[My-hm] 2015 conferences

Dear Andrew and everyone,

First, it was great to hear from so many people! The Hmong-Mien group is clearly alive and well.

We think that it is probably best not to propose a workshop for SEALS 25 — Hmong-Mien is one of the core SEASian language groups, so our papers belong on the main program there. A pre-conference workshop at the Sino-Tibetan meeting makes more sense, since whether or not HM/MY is part of ST is an open question: we are more peripheral there. Maybe we can discuss the possibility of organizing a workshop at a future SEALS meeting on a focused topic, like HM discourse, HM & language contact, or the like. What do you think?

But the fact that some of us are planning to go to SEALS this year should encourage others to submit abstracts. To follow up on what Nerida began, I think it would be very nice if we could organize an informal get-together while in Thailand, maybe a lunch or dinner together.

Best wishes to all,
Martha and Yoshihisa
