Quecholli as Macaw

Can someone
cite the documentation by which “Quecholli” has become “Macaw” (Hassig's Time, History and Belief ...)? Elsewhere I’ve seen “arrow” (from Codice Ixtlilxochitl),
precious feather, and of course the hoary “roseate spoonbill.”
