"Triuki" -Reply

My friend (Lisa Granik of Yale University) suggested the same thing
when she encountered this phrase describing the activities of a young
woman who was a student at the Gornyi Institute in the Twenties.  I
don't know if the phrase "to turn a trick" means the same thing in
colloquial Russian (now or in the Twenties).  Do any native speakers
know?
