Volkov and the Wizard of OZ

I don't have an answer to your question, but a comment.  When i was
growing up in the Soviet Union, I was sure that the Wizard was a russian
work.  Unfortunately, I don't have anymore my old russian language copy
to see who was listed as author (it wasn't Baum, that much I remember)
