Trouble at CUP

This issue was discussed at some length a couple of weeks ago in
Chronicle of Higher Education, I think. Robert Beard's recounting of the
facts are pretty much the gist of the matter. The book was in fact
cancelled by CUP. There was talk of a protest campaign, but I couldn't
find any trace of it searching the WWW. I'd be grateful if anyone could
provide more specifices.
